Abstract
The development of production and marketing activities aims to promote the development of each actor. The present study aims to contribute to a better knowledge of mountain rice production and marketing in Toucountouna. The methodological approach used in the case of this study is based on documentary research, fieldwork, collection, processing, analysis and interpretation of the results. It emerges from this study that the availability of a large lowland area, the presence of production support structures and outlets are an asset for the production and marketing of local rice. The rice produced in this commune ensures food security for the populations and contributes to the economy of the commune. As much as production increases from 275.5 tonnes in 2012 to 368.614 tonnes of mountain rice in 2014 (URCP-AD). However, constraints related to the production and marketing of local rice still exist in this study area. The development of lowlands is not always appropriate, access to quality inputs lack of access to credit. There is an urgent need to better organize the production and marketing of rice and to review the availability of inputs to producers.
