Abstract

The study investigated the relation of specific parenting (maternal) styles with the motivation orientation of 610 high school students from 6 regions of Kosovo. In the literature there is evidence that certain types of parenting styles and the motivation orientations of the students are related to the school success of the students. More specifically authoritative parenting style that is characterized with high demandingness and high responsiveness tends to be more positively associated with schools success and with intrinsic motivation compared to authoritarian and permissive parenting styles. Intrinsic motivation often refers to motivation of students " to know", to be oriented "toward accomplishment" and "experience stimulation" while learning.
