Ülke İmajı Bağlamında Türkiye’de Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Algısı Üzerine Nicel Bir Araştırma

The thoughts, views, opinions and attitudes of people living in different geographies and different cultures about a country reveal a general image of that country. However, the thoughts, opinions, attitudes and perceptions of human communities with different cultures, beliefs and behavior patterns may also differ from each other. Relations between the Republic of Türkiye and the United States of America show a fluctuating course. The course of relations between the two countries also affects the mutual perceptions and images of peoples and governments. This study aims to reveal the image of the United States of America in Turkish society. Within the scope of the study, firstly, the concepts of perception and image and country image are discussed, and information about the history of the relations between the two countries is given. Since the research part of the study will be based on quantitative data, the survey data collection technique was used. Some of the questions in the questionnaire were prepared using multiple choice, while the other part was prepared using a five-point Likert scale. For the research, 514 participants were determined by the simple random sampling method, and the research data were collected between March 1 and October 21, 2021. According to the findings obtained from the research, the participants show a positive opinion about the American people, products and touristic values. On the other hand, the majority of the participants consider the USA as the main threat against Türkiye. In addition, the majority of the participants agree with the negative propositions presented to them about the USA.
