Abstract

The article highlights the results of an empirical study of gender characteristics of the personal development of social workers at different stages of their professional development. The essence of the gender aspect of the personal development of a social work specialist is revealed. The results of an empirical study of the gender aspect of the formation of specialists in social work in the value-motivational, cognitive-affective, and conative-reflexive spheres are presented. Gender differences in the value orientations of the studied specialists were revealed (men tend to the orientation of “social activity”, “values of professional interaction”, “productivity”, “creativity”; women – the value of the ability to think logically, make informed rational decisions, respect others, authority in the team, ability to understand and respect the other point of view, tolerance, autonomy and independence in judgments, and high demands on life, etc.) at different stages of professional development. There were highlighted statistically significant gender differences in the desire as the following: to maximize the potential in professional activities; motivation of professional activity; basic beliefs about one's worth, ability to manage events and good luck with social work specialists; controllability and fairness of events; creative potential; positive attitude; psychological well-being; empathy; self-esteem; communicative intolerance; reflexivity; self-efficacy. The obtained results testify to the urgent need to implement the principle of gender equality, to create equal social conditions for the development of the individual regardless of gender. It is important to erase the differentiation between the social roles of men and women, to level the hierarchy in sexual relations, to recognize the value of the individual (regardless of gender).
