Abstract

The time we live in have been called the 'age of anxiety' but probably every age or era of human history could be designated in the sense way. Anxiety, fear and worry seen to be permanent parts of the human condition. Anxiety has been of central concerns in the study of individuals. Examination Anxiety is a type of anxiety that can affect an exam taker before, during or after an exam. It is an issue that many students deal with at one time or another. The present study is conducted to examine the relationship between Examination Anxiety and Academic Achievement of higher secondary male students of U.P.Board affiliated schools of District Meerut. The sample of 125 higher secondary male students was selected randomly. A standardized Examination Anxiety Test was used to measure the anxiety of students. The results revealed that a minimum level of examination anxiety is essential for a better achievement. There exists a negative correlation between high anxiety and achievement at higher secondary level. Some implications of the present study have also been suggested in study to maintain the required level of anxiety for a better academic achievement.
