Abstract
Accounting can play a vital role in this regard by providing the impact of business activities on the environment. Such information is not only useful to stakeholders in taking decisions in more environment friendly way, but can also help professionals and regulating bodies to minimize the future damage to the environment. Present paper is an attempt to find out whether there exist any relation between the characteristics of a business firm like age of the firm, size of the firm, profitability of the firm with environmental information disclosed by the firm in its annual reports. The study aims at measuring the environmental reporting practices of 50 manufacturing companies from various environmental sensitive sectors that is Oil, Cement, Textile, Pharmaceutical and FMCG.
