Abstract
The purpose of this article is to consider and analyse relevant directions in application of augmented reality (AR) technology in the context of developing a comprehensive strategy of its implementation at Pereiaslav National Historical- Ethnographic Reserve (hereinafter also referred to as Reserve). Research methodology. The suggested research presents an attempt to develop a universal innovative methodology that synthesizes a wide range of means taken from history, museology and information technology. Such multi-aspect nature is subordinated to the task of maximum involvement of available historical information on all sites, processes, and persons related to the problematics of Pereiaslav National Historical- Ethnographic Reserve in order to ensure the most effi cient delivery of all information to consumers of museum services by way of using augmented reality tools. The process of implementing the representative projects described in this research will become a testing ground to provide a most accurate way to verify validity and reliability of methodology tools traditionally used by researchers, by way of using digital simulation. This will build foundations for a historical methodology of a higher level geared towards development of full-scale digital reconstructions of the historic process and open new prospects for historical knowledge. The scientifi c novelty of the research is in the author's pioneering step to suggest methodologies for creating a theme-oriented immersive digital environment based on the Reserve's sites with the means of AR technology. This work has resulted in development of prospective ways for implementation of the said technology and the main directions are set forth in the article. Conclusions. The introduction of the above-mentioned types of AR technology at the Pereiaslav National Historical-Ethnographic Reserve will allow to effectively represent additional information about its objects and museum objects, signifi cantly enriching their communication potential. The combination of the real world with the virtual will expand the boundaries of the exhibitions and help strengthen their emotional impact on visitors. Integrated augmented reality Indoor applications optimize the process of navigating exposures, provide enhanced capabilities for people with special needs. The comprehensive implementation of the proposed innovations is focused on increasing the potential audience of visitors to the Reserve, primarily through those who are actively involved in the use of modern technological trends in the museum industry.
