Phytochemical Screening of Heliotropium indicum and Extraction, Isolation of Anti - Tumorouspyrrolizidine Alkaloids from Heliotropium indicum

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) have been receiving increasing attention due to their occurrence in several species relevant for human and animal nutrition, as well as for their toxicological and pharmacological properties. Pyrrolizidine alkaloids have proven to have anti - cancerous activity. Heliotropium indicumis a herbaceous plant which is widely distributed throughout the India has shown to have higher concentration of pyrrolizidine alkaloids. In this research pyrrolizidine alkaloids are extracted and isolated from Heliotropium indicum.
