Abstract

This article discusses about the history of units of measurement used in different periods of human historical development and their conformity to modern units of measurement, that pass on the invaluable heritage of our ancestors to future generation. Moreover, it covers information about the basics the theory of measurements and metrological characteristics of the means of measurements. It clearly describes historical units of measurement for length, volume, weight and money with examples. Furthermore, article emphasizes the idea that need of measuring is vital nowadays as it was in the past. Names of our prominent ancestors and their contributions to the development of units of measurement are outlined in this article. Additionally, some units of measurement used in some Eastern countries, including Uzbekistan are given. Also, this article includes itself some proverbs created in the field of units of measurement and highlighting the significance of measuring. This article integrates various fields such as history, linguistics and technology. For this reason, the findings of this article can be used not only extensively in classes or workshops on some aspects of linguistics, but also those who are studying in the fields of history and technology can find them useful for their further development.
