Abstract
The emergence of the Covid-19 virus represents an unprecedented global health crisis that affected every human endeavor. Intimations suggest that the prolonged lockdown occasioned by the dreaded coronavirus pandemic may have triggered academic regression among school students, especially at the secondary education level in Nigeria. Based on this, we conducted this study to explore if there would be a significant relationship between the prolonged school break and academic regression among a sample of secondary school students in Enugu State, Nigeria. A convenience sample of three hundred and eighteen students randomly pooled from secondary schools participated in the study. The participants completed a self-report measure of the Academic Regression Inventory. The result of Pearsons correlation revealed a significant positive relationship between the prolonged academic break and academic regression. The findings, implications, and conclusion are discussed.
