Abstract

Almost all commentators agree that the world has changed dramatically in the last 25 years– the 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall signaled the end of the Cold War, the reunification of a tragically divided Europe, and the acceleration of a globalization process that can only be compared to the decades preceding the First World War in 1914. The post-World War II world order was mostly a western-oriented paradigm that has now grown outmoded in countless aspects. The current shifts provide India with a chance to help shape political and monetary institutions that are further relevant to changing geopolitical dynamics. The current international order was established in 1944-45, during the post-World War II period, to address the issues that the United States and its Western European partners faced.
