Abstract

In today’s modern society lots of people visit swimming pool complexes for recreational sport or rehabilitation purposes. The legislation, which regulates the field of bathing water in Slovenia, specifies hygiene requirements for bathing water, among which are defined individual microbiological parameters, but the purpose of this thesis was to find those microbiological risks at swimming pool complexes, which are not regulated within the legislation and not checked by operators within internal control. We determined the presence of Gram negative bacteria and fungi in 24 samples of pool water, 80 surfaces and in 32 air samples, collected two times in two chosen swimming pool complexes. In 61 % of pool water samples and 66 % of surface prints were found the Gram negative bacteria, mostly from the genuses: Pseudomonas spp., Yersinia spp. and Acinetobacter spp. Fungi, particularly from the genuses Cladosporium spp., Fusarium spp. and Aspergillus spp., were found in all of pool water, and air samples and on 65 % of examined surfaces.
