Abstract
Alcoholism is a biopsychosocial disease of an individual, which is based on a person's dependence on alcohol. Alcohol is translated from Arabic as "intoxicating". Which in turn is one of the forms of deviant behavior. Already in ancient times, painful addictions to wine were known. And state measures were also applied to limit the consumption of wine, up to the introduction of a complete ban on it. For example, the legislator of Sparta, Lycurus, ordered the destruction of all vineyards. And some rulers in ancient times and the Middle Ages introduced the death penalty for drunkenness.
