THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF UPBRINGING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS OF THE VOLYN VOIVODESHIP

Abstract
Introduction. The article analyzes the main methods of upbringing the children and youth in the cultural and educational institutions of the Volyn region. The pedagogical experience of teachers and cultural leaders is important for modern educators. This is written in current educational documents. Teachers must be the best examples of parenting of the past to educate a good and intelligent young generation. The purpose of the article is to study the main methods of upbringing the children and youth in the cultural and educational institutions of the Volyn region and to show the ways of using them in present schools. Methods. Educational literature analysis, analysis of archival materials, historical- comparative, historical-chronological induction and deduction methods are used. Results. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Volyn was the part of the Polish state as the Volyn province. It was formally established in 1921. Various educational and cultural institutions operated there. Their members actively educated children and young people. We gave the definition «education». Education is a systematic influence on the individual by other personalities in order to form certain moral and cultural norms, worldviews, believes in order to realize a person for the benefit of society. The main methods of upbringing the children and youth in the cultural and educational institutions of the Volyn region: national-patriotic, physical, family, aesthetic, and civic. Teachers, activists of public associations and clergy were involved in pedagogical and educational activities. Educational ideals were promoted among children and young people, irrespective of their place of residence (city or village), as nationally oriented organizations operated in all settlements. Originality. The teachers and activists' work in educational and cultural institutions is analyzed in the article. The author used little-known archival materials. The basic directions of education have been identified and the facts confirming them have been presented. The author explained that education was aimed at fostering patriotism, nationalism, the physical culture, the moral values, the correct and active public position of children and young people. Conclusion. At the beginning of the twentieth century in Volyn, an original system of upbringing the young generation in educational and cultural institutions was developed there. The experience of that time teachers can be used in such directions: a) the promoting of national- patriotic ideals among children and young people, especially in the eastern regions of Ukraine; b) widely promoting of health-saving technologies; c) the promoting of family values; d) the increasing of art schools and cultural institutions; e) the developing of civic education system for children and young people according to their natural inclinations, interests and opportunities and including the needs of Ukrainian society.
