Abstract

It is obvious that students who have developed high levels of skills required by the labor market are welcomed by employers to accompany them in their organizations. The goal of this research; Identifying the skills required by industrial engineering graduates to enter the field of business and then ranking the three universities, Iran University of Science & Technology, Amirkabir and Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi. Comparison will be made in terms of the degree of compatibility of the intellectual model of the faculty of industry with the mental model of graduates working in the labor market. By studying library resources and interviewing experts, including university professors and graduates working in the labor market, a list of skills required by industrial engineering graduates to enter the labor market is identified and presented in the form of a model. In the next step, the model is validated using the structural equation method, and finally, the studied faculties are ranked. The results showed that the mental model of professors does not correspond to what is the real need of the labor market. In the meantime, although there is a significant gap between the adaptations of the skills needs of the labor market and the mental model of professors in all three faculties, the highest score in terms of compatibility of mental model of professors and successful graduates working in the labor market, is related to the Iran University of Science and Technology. Finally, general and specific solutions of each faculty are presented to match the skills required by industrial engineers in the university and the business environment.
