Abstract

Sunflower oil is high in the essential vitamin E and low in saturated fat. The two most common types of sunflower oil are linoleic and high oleic. High oleic sunflower oils are classified as having monounsaturated levels of 80% and above. Newer versions of sunflower oil have been developed as a hybrid containing linoleic acid. The crop is generally harvested in September-October after a growing season of around 120 days (depending on summer temperatures, relative moisture distribution and fertility levels). Sunflower has a wide potential sowing window. High yields may be produced from early plantings yet yields may be reduced by increased pest problems The sunflower oil extracts will yield a bright yellow product. all three methods result that the oil extracted from sunflower seeds using supercritical fluids yields 32.65% to 40% by Kinetics and Thermodynamics of Oil Extraction from Sunflower Seeds in the Presence of Aqueous Acidic Hexane Solutions yield about 19.25 to 25.42 % by Direct extraction of oil from sunflower seed by twin-screw extruder according to an aqueous extraction process: Feasibility study and influence of operating conditions yield about 70 %. Crude extracted or pressed rapeseed and sunflower oils contain phospholipids, which must be removed from oil during refining process.
