Abstract
The usage of E- vehicle is increasing drastically all over the world in order to reduce the carbon emission from the conventional vehicles which in turn reduces the atmospheric pollution. E-vehicles are gaining importance due to its better performance, less maintenance and no fuel required. The decrease in fossil fuels with increase in population, transportation costs all put forth for the development and usage of EVehicle. Various types of electric motors are used in E- Vehicle. BLDC machines are widely used for Hybrid E vehicles because of its simplicity in construction, increased in efficiency and torque, easy to control. This paper provides a design of three phase single layer Brush Less Direct Current (BLDC) motor for Electric Vehicles. An 1HP, 230V, 4 Pole, Surface mounted, BLDC design is proposed in this paper which provides a torque of about 4.58 N-m. The performance of the machine is compared with the conventional induction motor. The design is carried out using Ansys RMxprt.
