Abstract
This study aimed at providing a potential map of leading and competitive economic activities in the livestock sub-sector of Iran's provinces using location quotient analysis tools. For this purpose, the data of regional accounts of 31 provinces of the country (available at the website of the Statistical Center of Iran for the period of 2011-2017) were used. According to the study results, except for traditional breeding of livestock that the base provinces were decreasing, in other activities of the subsector like industry cattle husbandries, chicken farm, and beekeeping etc., the number of base provinces was increasing. Finally, for the provinces where the activity was known as a base activity in terms of the static and dynamic location quotients (i.e. the average values of location quotient were greater than one), it was suggested that their capacities might be exploited to export relevant goods to the provinces without competitive advantage.
