APPLICATION OF FRUGAL APPROACH IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES

Productivity improvement is playing very important role for survival of manufacturing industries. There are different tools available and practicing by manufacturing industry to improve productivity. However, frugal approach is also emerging as one of the key elements in manufacturing industries for improving productivity. To expand business for exclusive customer base and allowing product range affordable to mitigate poverty is a new potential for business development. It means that, frugal approach and productivity improvement both are hand in hand supporting to manufacturing industries. Therefore, there is need to understand application of frugal approach in manufacturing industries and its essence in productivity improvement initiatives. This paper presents summary of ten case studies to illustrate application of frugal approach in productivity improvement. Case studies are prepared by collecting data from secondary sources. The paper will help to find application of frugal approach in manufacturing industry by understanding the relation between productivity improvement and frugal approach. This paper will help researcher to understand use of frugal approach for productivity improvement.
