Abstract
Factors of axial magnetic field aided shielded metal arc welding for welding ASTM A 516 grade 70 steel were explored in this research. Welding current, field intensity, and frequency were identified as essential factors, whereas reinforcement height (RH) was viewed as the outcome. Response surface methodology was applied to forecast and optimize RH. Regression models were established to correlate factors and outcome. The models' adequacy was noticed to be satisfactory. The optimal factors (90 ampere, 11 mili-tesla and 44 Hertz) were determined using the desirability approach. The calculated optimum factors were then used in verification experimentation. There was a close agreement between the theoretical and experimental values.
