Abstract
Problems in the theory of probability are an integral part of Olympiads in mathematics and often cause significant difficulties for students compared to problems from other branches of mathematics. The article considers several approaches to solving Olympiad problems in probability theory, in particular, the combinatorial method, the method of entering random variables and the method of finding the probability of an event using the distribution function of a random variable. The expediency of applying these methods in each specific case is substantiated, conclusions are drawn about the possibility of using the above approaches to find solutions for a number of other problems.
