Abstract
The present article provides an analysis of the Council of Islamic Ideology of Pakistan in the light of contemporary Political, theological and Sectarian influence. It explores that the Council of Islamic Ideology was in fact established to perform a sacred task, to exercise ijtihad which unfortunately, could not be fulfilled due to political and theological extremism in Pakistan. It is this reason that people have lost their confidence upon this institution and are demanding dissolution of the Council as it caused to increase their problems rather than resolving them by way of flexible interpretation.
