A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Informational Booklet on Knowledge Regarding Ujjwala Yojna among Women in Selected Community Area Bhopal M.P

Background With the tagline Swachh Indhan, Behtar Jeevan , Union Government has launched a social welfare scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana PMUY on 1st May 2016 under the leadership of Honble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The scheme envisages of smoke free Rural India and aims to benefit five crore families especially the women living below poverty line BPL by providing concessional LPG connections to entire nation by 2019. The scheme will increase the usage of LPG and would help in reducing health disorders, air pollution and deforestation. Objectives The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of informational booklet on knowledge regarding Ujjwala Yojna among women in selected community area Bhopal M.P. Methods In the present study quantitative research approach was used to assess the effectiveness of informational booklet on knowledge regarding Ujjwala Yojna among women. The researcher adopted a pre experimental one group pre test post – research design . 50 women selected for study by using Convenient sample technique. Data was collected by structured knowledge questionnaire before and after administration of self instructional module regarding partograph and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. Results Indicated overall pre test and post test mean knowledge scores on Ujjawala Yojana. Depicted mean post test score 24.28 is higher than mean pre test score of 11.8. The actual gain knowledge score is 12.48 and post test SD =3.81 is more than pre test SD=2.348 and computed paired t test 28.37 p= 2.18 at the level of 0.05. Thus, data showed higher than the tabled value t test = 2.18 at the level of 0.05 thus indicated significant difference and effectiveness of planned teaching program, in increasing the knowledge of women regarding Ujjawala Yojana. Hence H1 is accepted.
