Abstract
Proteinuria prevalence varies by clinical symptoms in the pediatric population. It is found 1 out of every 10 school-aged children, if measured with reactive swabs (dipstick) which reach a value equal to or greater than 1. If this outcome is confirmed in four different samples, the percentage falls to 1 in 1000. The prevalence rises with age, with a peak in adolescence (16 years for males and 13 years for females) and a gradual decline in adulthood.
