Abstract
Kaaka Muttai (The Crow?s Egg) is a 2015 Tamil movie directed by M. Manikandan. The movie narrates the poverty - stricken life of two siblings dwelling in a Chennai slum. The director of the movie presents two children - Periya Kaaka Muttai and Chinna Kaaka Muttai as the protagonists and it is through their life, that the audience witnesses the impoverished life led by slum dwellers. Globalization started to make the life of the slum dwellers to be more pathetic. The movie can be considered as a social document that chronicles the deplorable conditions of the life and struggle of a distinct subaltern group ? the slum dwellers. The movie focuses on the effects of globalization and its effect on the marginalized section of society.
