Archival Information Resources of France: Modern Approaches in Organization and Use

Abstract
The purpose of the article is to study the current state of development of archival information resources in France. The research methodology is based on the application of socio-cultural, systemic, interdisciplinary scientifi c approaches, as well as a set of general scientifi c methods: critical, empirical (descriptive), typological, systemic analysis. The principles of the organization of French archival information resources, means and methods of representation of documentary collections in the digital space are analyzed. For this purpose, methods of classifi cation, systematization and generalization were used. The source base of the study consists of the information resources of the National, departmental archives and the National Library of France, as well as publications of French archival periodicals devoted to the problems of digitization. Scientifi c novelty. The article describes the informatization processes of French archival institutions, analyzes the functioning and fi lling of information resources, in particular the ADAMANT project, the communication strategy of French archives, the importance of digitization processes for preserving the historical and cultural heritage of France. Conclusions. The French archival information resources refl ect the largescale work of archivists on digitization, organization of access and use of archival documents. A signifi cant number of databases, which are updated monthly by the National and Regional Archives, the National Library of France, provide users with remote access to the historical and cultural heritage of the country; contribute to its research and popularization in various countries of the world. The rapid pace of digitization of archival documents and the scale of their representation in open access allowed French archives to occupy one of the leading places in the modern information space. This experience requires additional study and wider use in the practice of Ukrainian archives.
