Abstract
Materials are graded with some particles by centrifugal casting so that they can be provided a high service life in engineering applications such as pulley, flywheel and cam disc. This study aims to investigate of abrasive wear behavior of centrifugally cast Al alloy composites with Titanium diboride (TiB2) reinforcements. Microstructure, hardness and abrasive wear behavior of composites has been examined from the outer wall to the inside. The abrasive wear properties of the composites were investigated with the Taguchi technique considering factors such as, Al alloy type, a layer of composite, abrasive particle size, sliding distance, sliding speed and applied load factors. It has been observed that the composites have two distinct layers as TiB2-reinforced and non-reinforced layers. In addition, it has been observed that the wear properties of the TiB2-reinforced layers are 63% better than the non-reinforced layers.
