Abstract

The Philippines is a developing country that is greatly affected by the pandemic. One of the effects of the pandemic is the sudden shift and implementation of online learning from traditional face-to-face classes. This quantitative study determines the experiences, challenges, and acceptance of online learning as method of teaching by the STEM students during the pandemic. This study utilized purposive sampling that resulted to 100 respondents. The survey questionnaire was adopted and modified based on the study of Zalat et al. (2021). Findings reveal that STEM students have negative experience in online learning. Technology Acceptance Model shows that students perceive the technologies useful and easy to use but their satisfaction is low to accept this method of teaching. Unstable internet connection and low motivation is one of the major challenges that students encounter in online learning. These results imply that the current approach to online learning is not adequate for the needs of the students. In connection to the study's findings, a recommendation plan was formulated. This research may be used as a reference for scholarly purposes and matters regarding online learning.
