Role of Disability Activists to Enhance Employment Equity for Person with Disabilities

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the efforts of disability activists at the Difabel Mandiri Indonesia Foundation (DMIF) in providing access to disabled workers and to find out the obstacles experienced by persons with disabilities to work in the formal sector. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data was collected using in-depth interview techniques involving two disability activists, four persons with disabilities, one staff of the Tangerang City Social Service, and one employer. The study results find that disability activists in DMIF play a facilitating role, an educational role, a representational role, and a technical role. The obstacles faced are personal and environmental factors
