Abstract
The article considers the duct smoke detectors designed to detect smoke in the ducts of exhaust ventilation system. The article discusses the design features of duct smoke detectors, the range of technical requirements for these detectors and the differences between the test methods for duct smoke detectors and the test methods for conventional point smoke fire detectors. The area of application of duct smoke detectors is determined. There are presented their main advantages and disadvantages. The reasons for the insufficiently wide use of duct smoke detectors in the Russian Federation are formulated. The issues of standardization of technical requirements, test methods, regulations and rules for the design of fire alarm systems using duct smoke detectors are touched upon. The article conducts a comparative analysis of technical solutions for the construction of a stand for fire testing of duct smoke detectors, presented in international and European standards. There is provided information on the development of the interstate standard GOST «Duct smoke detectors. General technical requirements. Test methods» in Russia.
