Prospects for the development of norms on the postponement of serving sentences in relation to pregnant women and women with young children under the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The essence of the institution of postponement of serving a sentence in general lies in the fact that it provides the convicted person with the opportunity not to actually serve the sentence imposed in the sentence. The practice of applying the postponement of serving a sentence in relation to pregnant women and women with young children, provided for in article 74 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, shows that it is a fairly effective measure. The norms on the postponement of serving sentences for pregnant women and women with young children are based on the idea of humanism in relation not only to women, but also to children.
