ORGANIZATION OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF FUTURE TEACHERS AT THE HLUHIV TEACHER’S INSTITUTE IN THE 1870S

Abstract

Introduction. In the conditions of constant improvement of the organization of the educational process in institutions of higher education and the search for an effective system of higher pedagogical education, the significant historical experience of the organization of the first teachers' institutes plays an important role. The Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University is the oldest in terms of foundation and among the existing institutions of higher pedagogical education. Founded in October 1874, the Hlukhiv Teacher's Institute, it played a rather significant role in the process of reforming domestic pedagogical education at various stages of its development. Purpose. The article aims to determine the optimal components of the organization of an effective educational process of professional training of future teachers at the Hlukhiv Teacher's Institute in the 1870s, as the first such educational institution on the territory of modern Ukraine. Methods. Analysis of scientific, pedagogical, psychological and methodical literature on the topic of research, comparison, comparison and synthesis of analytical information were used. Results. In the presented article, the authors analyzed the important role of the Hlukhiv Teacher's Institute, which it played since its foundation in October 1874, in the process of reforming domestic pedagogical education at various stages of its development. It is presented as one of the important aspects of the activity of the educational institution, its administrative and organizational structure, which is built on clear regulations and subordination to the trustee of the Kyiv educational district and the Ministry of Public Education. Thanks to this, the professional training of future teachers, based on the created educational complex and the availability of fundamental libraries, testified to its sufficient effectiveness. Attention was drawn to the fact that the Hlukhiv Teacher's Institute became the first pedagogical educational institution on the territory of modern Ukraine, which continues the tradition of quality training of future teachers for the 149th year. Originality. The authors present information that confirms that the Hlukhiv Teacher's Institute was founded first on the territory of modern Ukraine in October 1874. This was two months earlier than the establishment of the same institution in Feodosia, which existed until 1941. It has been proven that the next similar educational institution was founded in Kyiv 35 years later. Conclusion. As a result of the research, it was determined that the activity and administrative and organizational structure of the Hlukhiv Teacher's Institute was built on clear regulations and subordination to the trustee of the Kyiv educational district and the Ministry of Public Education and was determined by normative documents that remained practically unchanged until the beginning of the 20th century. The accumulated considerable experience in the organization of the educational process in the first of such educational institutions ‒ the Hlukhiv Teacher's Institute from the very beginning played and still plays a rather important role in the process of reforming domestic pedagogical education.
