A STUDY TO DETERMINE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENT WITH CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE ON DIALYSIS FOR MORE THAN THREE MONTHS AT APOLLO MULTISPECIALTY HOSPITAL, KOLKATA

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease and the methods of its treatment play animportant part in shaping the Quality of Life of patients receiving dialysis. Quality of life is a multidimensional construct that are affected by ones disease and/or treatment. Itfocuses on the impact of health on a persons ability to live a fulfilling life. A descriptive survey was conducted to determine the quality of life in patient with chronic kidney disease on dialysis for more than three months at Apollo Multispecialty Hospital, Kolkata. 60 participants were selected by nonprobability convenient sampling techniqueand Modified Kidney Disease and Quality of life toolwas used for collecting data. The result showed that 53% paticipantshad average quality of life, 27% participants had poor quality of life and 20 % participants had good quality of life. It also revealed that 97% participantswere married and 70% participants were male. Among all participants 42% belonged to age group between 47-62 years. It showed that there was significant association between quality of life and age, marital status, qualification, income and number of medications consumed daily and there was no significant association between quality of life and sex of the participants. There was positive correlation among domains of quality of life (r(59) = 0.250 , p<0.05).
