Abstract

The article deals with the gods of Scythian mythology. An etymological analysis of theonyms was made, the functional duties of the gods were revealed. It has been established that theonyms have their origin in the Celtic language environment. The proposed study suggests that the Scythians migrated from the territory of modern central Russia through the southern steppes beyond the Caucasus. Passionaries of the Scythians could become carriers of Y-DNA R1b.
