Analysis of psychological research in the penitentiary sphere of activity aimed at studying the personality of convicts in the process of their adaptation to the conditions of correctional institutions

The key task of the psychological service is to provide psychological assistance to convicts in adapting to the conditions of social isolation on the basis of making a psychological diagnosis and developing recommendations for individualizing the process of execution of criminal punishment based on the study of the individual psychological characteristics of the convict's personality. Therefore, the study of the influence of the characterological characteristics of the personality of convicts on the process their adaptation to the conditions of correctional institutions is relevant. Knowledge of these features will contribute to the improvement of correctional impact, will allow structuring the correctional process aimed at increasing the level of adaptive potential and the effectiveness of the processes of re-socialization and social adaptation during the period of serving a sentence and after release.
