Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of pollution of water supply sources in the Chelyabinsk region. The sources of water supply are the Miass River and the Shershnevsky reservoir. The history of the creation of the reservoir is briefly considered. As evidence of surface water pollution, water color indicators are given, which indicates a deterioration in water quality. There is also the problem of operating the Tominsky GOK, which pollutes the source of water supply, as a result of which the entire city may lose the most important natural resource for its life support.
