Abstract
The worrisome rise in overweight and obesity among EU citizens is indicative of a deteriorating trend in dietary habits and low levels of physical exercise. About 33% of Italian children aged 6-10 were overweight and obese in 2014, according to data from the country's national monitoring programme on the issue, "OKKIO alla Salute." This research added to the literature suggesting that parents may be unaware of the serious health risks associated with kid obesity because they failed to accurately assess the extent of the issue. It is predicted that those with poor lifestyles would have a greater future risk of chronically diet or obesity-related illnesses, which in turn will have a detrimental impact on both quality of life and longevity.
