Abstract

The considerable effect of DEE in lowering SO viscosity was established. When DEE was combined with SO, the density and surface tension of the resulting mixes dropped dramatically. DEE is used so that the SO being fed into the combustion chamber is atomized more effectively. It was shown that the inclusion of DEE significantly improves SO's low-temperature capabilities, raising the possibility that such blends might be used even in the winter. Compared to diesel fuel, the equivalency air-fuel ratio and brake specific fuel consumption for the fuel blends were higher in the engine performance data. At 5% ethanol concentration, the fuel mix has braking power similar to diesel fuel; this power drops down with increasing ethanol concentration. The most suitable fuel blends for CI engines, in terms of both engine performance and fuel solubility, are those with a concentration of 5 to 10% ethanol.
