Abstract
Nanotechnology is the latest advancement in the world of sciences. It is the engineering of functional systems at the molecular scale. Basically it is a field of applied science focused on the design, synthesis, characterization and application of materials and devises on the nanoscale. Two major approaches are used while working with nanotechnology: Top-down and Bottom- up approach. In the Bottom-up approach, materials and machines are developed from molecular or atomic components which assemble themselves chemically by recognizing the similar molecules or by the principles of molecular recognition. On the other hand in the Top-down approach, nano objects are constructed from larger components and entities without restricting their atomic scale control. This paper includes advantages, disadvantages and it applications in different fields such as medicine, chemistry, communication sector, heavy industry, construction, food industry and cosmetics etc.
