Since ancient times, several edible mushrooms have been reported as a nutritious food with valuable medicinal properties. The genera Flammulina; Lyophyllum; Agaricus; Boletus; Letinula and Pleurotus are a group of edible mushrooms that are distributed all over the world. The studies on different species of these edible mushrooms have revealed their nutritional medicinal potentials.
