Shailesh Matiani was born in Badechina village of Almod located in Kumaon region of present Uttaranchal Pradesh. Therefore, it is natural that the stories of the rural environment are prominent in his creation world. An important aspect of Matiani jis stories is related to the hill village life. Various forms of womens life are depicted in her stories. In his stories, stories of rural environment and different psychological forms of women are available in them.
