Abstract

Has researched the history and cost analysis of retaining walls. For all wall heights, it was found that geosynthetic reinforced walls were the least costly of all wall types. Koernera examined the numerical example geosynthetic reinforced walls for various heights and established that the modified Rankine method is the most conservative, followed by the Federal Highway Administration approach method and the National Concrete Masonry Association approach method. It was. He also demonstrated that the two factors that contributed the most to the segmental retaining walls SRWs poor performance were i the use of incorrectly draining fine grained material for backfilling, and ii contractor errors that might have been prevented with effective quality control and inspection.
