Abstract

Today, the cases of child neglect and abuse is a social problem with increasing rates at the local and global level. For this reason, every research on child neglect and abuse is important. The phenomenon of child neglect and abuse has risk factors arising from the child, parents, family structure and the characteristics of the society. Although these risk factors alone are not the cause of abuse, their presence and interaction increase the risk of neglect and abuse of the child. It is important to know the existing risk factors in the society and to determine these risks before they enter the juvenile justice system and to carry out preventive and preventive studies with a multidisciplinary approach. It is thought that this problem will be reduced by evaluating the risks and taking precautions at micro, mezzo and macro levels. In this article, it is aimed to evaluate the risk factors that play a role in the neglect and abuse of the child in terms of the ecological system approach, which is one of the important theories of social work. With the research, attention is drawn to the importance of reducing the risk factors that increase the risk of neglect and abuse of the child and conducting preventive studies to reduce these risk factors.
