Abstract
Political discourse as a type of social discourse is one of the components of the practices of modern democratic civil society and its inherent culture. Because of this, the linguistic study of this discursive variety has a significance that goes beyond the boundaries of linguistics and science as such, since it makes an important contribution to the formation of the philological consciousness of modern society, to the awareness of its representatives of how the features and properties of political speech affect the inherent ideas and orientations to this society. The subject of O.O. Yevlanova's monograph is the pragmatically oriented features of two leading representatives of modern Czech politics, Vaclav Havel (president of Czechoslovakia in 1982−1992, president of the Czech Republic in 1993−2003) and Vaclav Klaus (president of the Czech Republic in 2003−2013).
