Abstract
The article discusses basic principles of organising the content of the discipline “Translation editing” which is aimed at developing the competence of editing included in the training programmes for translators with the purpose of improving the quality of written translation. The tasks of mastering the discipline include: studying translation editing in comparison with other types of editing; improving the skills to overcome the interference of the English text when translating into Russian; study of the typology of translation errors; development of skills for the translation quality assessment. The main aspects that form the content of the translation editing course are the following: the formation of the basic terms and concepts of translation editing, including its definition, scope and differences from other types of editing, the essence of the editor's professional analytical skills; analysis of language interference as a cause of emerging translation errors and of the methods to prevent it; study of the typology of translation errors; systematisation of the approaches to the translation quality assessment.
