Abstract

In modern Indian history, the social group which Mahatma Joti Rao Phule addressed with the noun of Atishudra, was identified as non Hindu by the British Census Commissioner in 1911, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar called Outcast and in constitutional terminology those who They are called Scheduled Castes, todays social scientists call them Dalits. The movement started by them is called Dalit Movement.
