Abstract

Introduction:Hyalinizingtrabecularneoplasmofthyroidisabenignneoplasmoffollicular originandischaracterizedbytrabecularpatternofgrowthandinterspersedhyalinization.It accountsforlessthan1%ofthyroidneoplasmswithafemalepreponderance.[1]Itisalsoa neoplasmwithalowdiagnosticaccuracy(6%)duetolimitedliteratureonitsdistinguishing featuresandunreliableancillarytests[2].Inthiscasereportwereviewthecytological featuresofHTNandcorrelatethemwiththehistopathologicfindings. CaseReport:This case reportpresents ararecase ofhyalinizing trabecular neoplasm(HTN)ofthyroidina42yearoldfemale.Thepatientcomplainedofswellingon leftsideofneckfor6monthsandultrasoundreportshowedpresenceofisolatedlobule withcysticdegeneration.Fineneedleaspirationoftheswellingcharacterizeditasatypiaof undeterminedsignificance.Histopathologicexaminationofexcisedthyroidlobeconfirmed thediagnosisoffollicularneoplasmfavouringhyalinizingtrabecularneoplasmofthyroid gland. Conclusion:Hyalinizingtrabecularneoplasmofthyroidisabenignneoplasmofthyroid thatposesagreatdiagnosticchallenge.Alongwithitslowincidenceandasymptomatic clinicalpresentation theyaremisdiagnosed in intermediateBethesdacategories.Thiscase reporthighlightsthevariouscytologicalandhistopathologic findingsofHTN.
