Abstract
Extensive reading program (ERP)implementation hassteadily increasedinpast decades in South Korean K-12 EFLlearningcontexts, but there has been less usage at the collegiate and graduate school level. Therefore, mostof my TESOL graduate school teacher-trainees lack a foundational awareness of what an ERP is – its definition, principles, and practice. Subsequently, there is also a clear lack of research awarenessabout ERPs among this student population. What accounts for this lack of awareness of ERPs and ERP-related researchat the graduateschool level? How can awareness be raised? Iattempt to address these two issuesbysharing the reasoning behind two select classroom processes: literature circles and journal response assignments. Teaching implications are discussed, and futureresearch considerations are proposed.
