Abstract
The concept of the generalized strain measures has been useful to solve various elastic, plastic and creep problems. The objective of this paper to solve the creep transition problem in spherical shell under internal pressure using the concept of generalized strain measures and Seth’s transition theory of elastic, plastic and creep deformation. The expressions for the creep stresses and yielding are derived by taking the asymptotic behavior of creep transition. The results obtained have been discussed numerically and depicted graphically. The solution obtained does not use the adhoc assumptions given by Tresca or Von Mises.
