Abstract
Silver nanoparticle synthesis is an interesting area in nanotechnology due to their remarkable biomedicalproperties. To prepare silver nanoparticles, reduction of Ag+ ions to Ag° nanoparticles was done in a medium of Aloe vera. The AgNPs were synthesized by mixing extract and silver nitrate then heated at 80°C for 30 minutes maintaining alkaline pH10. The obtained colloidal solution was dried and taken to confirm the formation of silver nanoparticles through X-ray diffractometer. The average sizes of AgNPs were found to be in a range of 5 to 8 nm in controlled environment. The formation of smaller size silver nanoparticles was seen at higher concentration of extract (25gm/100ml), silver nitrate(4mM) and higher temperature (70°C to 80°C).The resulting silver nanoparticles were found to be effective against Staphylococcus aureusATCC 25923and Escherichia coliATCC 25922, Klebsiella pneumoniaeATCC 700603. However synthesized silver nanoparticles were observed less effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosaATCC 27853. The resulting silver nanoparticles showed a synergism of Aloe vera extract and silver nanoparticles on bactericidal effect.
